Window tinting can be over complicated by companies who all want to obtain a sales edge. We don’t use high pressure sales pitches or scare tactics to sell our products. We just want to simplify it for you – So here are a few things to check:
- Most importantly residential and commercial solar film should have a chemically activated dry adhesive. This adhesive is used by the big manufacturers ( ASWF, Johnson, 3M, Suntek, Bekeart, MEP ) in their architectural solar window tinting films. If you have a sample check this by peeling the clear backing liner off the film and touching the glue, it shouldn’t feel tacky like sticky tape. If it does feel sticky it’s the same type of glue you see bubbled up on the rear windows of cars. You wouldn’t want that on your house windows, especially in the harsh Brisbane sun. Some local Brisbane companies still install this type of glue as it is a much cheaper film to buy. As always there are a couple of exception to this rule, but this is reserved for specialty produce with specific requirements.
Ask the question– The top manufacturers in the world use dry adhesive for a reason! This pressure sensitive film was only installed for 4 year before it failed!!!

- You should look for a window tinting film that is manufactured in the USA. For decades this is where the best films on the market have been made and laminated. In recent years Asia and India have begun production, but these films are untested in Australian conditions and are yet to prove themself.
- Installation is just as important as window tint quality. Use an experienced installer. Our installers have a minimum of 6 years experience in the installation of residential and commercial films. Most quality manufacturers offer a life time warranty but this only covers their product and not poor installation.
- Make sure you are getting a metalised or ceramic window tinting. Believe it or not, there is still window tint being installed in Brisbane that is non-metalised. Non-metalised block only a fraction of the heat compared to metalised window tinting. Ceramic based films are usually very light in shade and used for applications such as night time city view or retail shop fronts.
- Don’t get caught up with scare tactics and sales pitches. Whilst heat block is important don’t get caught up in figures of heat blocks to heavily. If you have checked the mentioned points so far you are probably dealing with a major film manufacturers product, most will block a comparative heat percentage when matched against a similar light transparency and reflective finish.
- As a general rule. More external reflection (mirrored) = higher the heat block and darker window tinting = more heat blocked.
